Public Consultation Underway for Review of Fiji’s Electoral Laws
FIJI NEWS

Commissioner Barbara Malimali joined members of the public at the Suva Civic Centre as the Fiji Electoral Law Review Commission commenced its public consultations on proposed changes to the nation’s electoral laws.
Chaired by former Chief Justice Daniel Fatiaki and including Ms. Seni Nabou, Ms. Deidre Brookes, and Professor Wadan Narsey, the Commission invited Fijians to share their views on key areas such as the electoral system, vote counting, voter and candidate qualifications, women’s representation, and ballot paper design.
This follows Cabinet’s recent endorsement to review three crucial legislations: the Electoral Act 2014, the Electoral (Registration of Voters) Act 2012, and the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding & Disclosures) Act 2013, giving citizens a chance to shape the future of democracy in Fiji.
