QVS Principal Reveals Serious Bullying and Assaults
FIJI NEWS

Principal of Queen Victoria School, Mr Timoci Vosailagi, the has revealed alarming reports of unwarranted demands for food in the dining hall, including the forceful opening of chest boxes, physical assault, foot burning, and nightly demands ranging from $10 to $15, dating back to 2007.
He stated that these practices have reportedly continued every day.
Vosailagi explained that the problem centers around a built-in pattern of senior students, known as "kingpins," coercing junior students, or orderlies, into providing them with food from the dining hall.
Bypassing the standard dining hall rules, these kingpins have allegedly demanded that three meals be delivered to them in the hostel every day.
This method involves physical assault and other forms of punishment if the orderlies do not comply with these instructions.
The kingpins are also accused of ordering Rewa House orderlies to steal twelve loaves of bread every morning during breakfast and deliver them to senior boys who skip meals in the dining hall.
This pattern continues on Wednesdays when sandwiches are served for lunch, and at other times when beef, sausages, and chicken are served.
During these times, the kingpins are supplied by the orderlies, who take portions of meat from the dining hall and conceal them.
Known as "gangsters," this group of senior students also uses the orderlies to store illegal substances like cigarettes, marijuana, and premix, which they retrieve after the lights go out at approximately 11:30 p.m.
While the seniors engage in substance abuse, the orderlies serve as watchmen or lookouts.
An investigation into the case began after Rewa House orderlies were caught stealing bread every morning.
The report revealed serious concerns about the safety of junior students in the hostel and emphasized the troubling effects this situation has had on their well-being.
Additionally, a chart illustrating the structure of the system in the QVS hostel was shared.
All QVS students and alumni from 2007 onward are reportedly aware of the structure but are reluctant to talk about their experiences living in the dorms and enduring the torturous and traumatic system.
