Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has confirmed he will not unilaterally withdraw from the Coalition Agreement with SODELPA, saying the tripartite deal requires consensus to dissolve.

His comments come after SODELPA General Secretary Viliame Takayawa issued a public apology for remarks that caused friction within the coalition.

Rabuka told FijiVillage he accepts the apology and emphasized the importance of national unity.

“Fiji is too small a nation for us to be speaking unkindly about each other,” the Prime Minister said.

Rabuka also acknowledged personal ties with Takayawa’s village of Naila, linking it to his late mother’s roots and those of Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica.
