Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has responded to allegations that he received a $150,000 gold Rolex watch from a local businessman, stating that those making the claims must provide evidence.
In a social media post, Rabuka acknowledged that he had been wearing the watch but maintained his right to remain silent on the matter.
"I told them that I have the right to remain silent, and those that are making the allegations must prove what they’re saying," he said.
Rabuka also addressed concerns raised about his health and fitness for office, assuring the public that he remains capable of leading the country.
"The media also questioned my health and fitness for office. I assured them that I am well, even though I am using a walking stick today," he stated.
He further noted his previous injuries but emphasized that they do not impact his ability to serve as Prime Minister.
"With two titanium knees and previously broken collarbones, I am still serving as Prime Minister. I don’t need to run 100 metres in 11 seconds to be Prime Minister," he added.
