Rakiraki Carnival 2026 Celebrates Unity, Strong Families and Community

The Vodafone Rakiraki Carnival 2026 has officially opened, bringing communities across the Province of Ra together for a week of celebration, entertainment and social engagement.

The weeklong event was officially opened at Davui Ground in Rakiraki on Saturday, 12 September, by Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services Hon. Penioni Ravunawa.

This year’s carnival is being held under the theme “Stronger Together: Strengthening Families and Social Cohesion for a Sustainable Future.”

In his keynote address, Assistant Minister Ravunawa highlighted the importance of strong families in creating safer communities and contributing to a more sustainable Fiji.

He said strong families provide the foundation for unity and social cohesion, while the carnival theme reflects the important role families play in building a stronger nation.

The official opening was attended by the paramount chief of the vanua of Rakiraki, Tu Navitilevu Ratu Emori Bolobolo, and Vodafone Fiji Head of Public Relations and Sponsorship Adriu Vakarau.

Five contestants are competing for the Miss Rakiraki 2026 title.

The contestants were encouraged to use the platform to promote their advocacies and become agents of positive change while showcasing their talents and representing the daughters of Ra.

The Vodafone Rakiraki Carnival 2026 will continue at Davui Ground from 12 to 19 September, with various activities planned throughout the week.

Organisers say the carnival provides an opportunity for communities to come together, strengthen relationships and celebrate their shared identity and culture.

The event is expected to attract residents and visitors from across Ra throughout the week.
