Rakiraki Road Crash Claims Life, National Death Toll Reaches 38

A man in his 40s from Ellington, Rakiraki, has become Fiji’s latest road fatality following a head-on collision at Naqoro on Monday, September 14, 2026.

Police said the victim was driving along Naqoro when a bus driven by a 51-year-old man allegedly veered onto his lane, resulting in the collision.

The victim was rushed to Rakiraki Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Passengers travelling in the bus and a 29-year-old woman who was in the victim’s vehicle were treated at hospital and later discharged.

The bus driver remains admitted to hospital.

The latest fatality brings Fiji’s national road death toll to 38, compared with 51 recorded during the same period last year.
