Residents of Tamavua, Sakoca, Tacirua, as well as Colo-i-Suva and Namadi Heights, have raised concerns about frequent water supply disruptions in their areas.

They reported experiencing limited access to water this week, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Praveen Chand, a former resident of Sakoca, shared the difficulties of living with restricted water access, calling it an ongoing challenge for the community.

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) confirmed that the issue is caused by increased turbidity levels in the raw water at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant.

This disruption is linked to recent heavy rainfall and blockages in the Savura area.

WAF stated that if the quality of the raw water does not improve over time, water production and supply disruptions may continue.

Chand suggested that it would be helpful if WAF could dispatch water tankers in the evening to alleviate the situation.

He also mentioned that they had purchased extra water until Sunday, adding to their costs.

WAF has yet to respond regarding when water supply in these areas will return to normal.
