Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has praised the growing defence ties between Fiji and Australia during a visit to 129 Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) personnel training in Central Queensland as part of Talisman Sabre 2025.

The five-month military exercise—the largest ever hosted by the Australian Defence Force—involves 30,000 troops from 19 countries, including Fiji, the US, Japan, India, and France.

Rabuka said the training reflects the strength of the Vuvale Partnership, built on mutual respect, regional unity, and shared security goals.

“This rotational company pilot shows how Fiji and Australia are deepening cooperation through joint training and shared purpose,” he said.

The RFMF’s participation enhances interoperability and prepares the force for future combined operations. The Fiji delegation also witnessed a live demonstration of an offensive training phase.

Rabuka, joined by senior ministers and defence officials, thanked Australia for its continued support and urged the troops to remain loyal, professional, and committed in their service.
