Rocky Proud of Young Nasinu Side as BOG Semi-Final Test Looms

Nasinu Football President Jagindar Singh “Rocky” says the district’s qualification for the 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants semi-finals is a proud achievement, particularly considering the young squad and resources available to the team.

Speaking to Duavata News ahead of Nasinu’s semi-final clash against Rewa, Singh credited the players and coaching staff for the team’s impressive run through the group stages.

“It’s a proud moment for the entire district, and the credit goes to the coach and the hardworking players,” Singh said.

Nasinu booked its place in the last four after producing determined performances during the pool stages, including victories over Navua and Suva.

Singh believes the fighting spirit within the squad, coupled with a strong bond between the players, has been central to their success.

“They certainly played well, and it’s within a player whether he has that fighting spirit. Team bonding has also been a major factor towards the team’s performance,” he said.

“We are not just a team. We are a family.”

Singh said the position Nasinu finds itself in heading into the semi-finals is the result of the collective efforts of the players and coaching staff.

“It was all their efforts to get the team where they are today,” he said.

Nasinu will face an experienced Rewa outfit for a place in the BOG final, and Singh acknowledged the size of the challenge awaiting his young side.

“Knowing that Rewa is a very experienced side, we know it’s not going to be easy, but it’s a game of football and anything can happen,” he said.

While the prospect of lifting the BOG trophy remains alive, Singh said Nasinu’s progress goes beyond simply measuring success by silverware.

He urged supporters and sponsors to continue believing in the young players as they gain valuable experience at this level.

“We have a very young side and the boys need encouragement and motivation. Every step is a new experience for them,” Singh said.

“Maybe we do not get the trophy this time, but we are getting closer to it. Win or lose, I’m proud of my team’s achievement.”

Singh said Nasinu’s performances were even more encouraging when viewed against the resources available to the district.

“With the resources we have, I can say that the boys have done a great job,” he said.

Nasinu will now look to carry the same fighting spirit and family mentality into its semi-final showdown against Rewa as it chases a place in the 2026 Extra BOG final.
