Suva Rugby Vice-Chair Stanley Simpson says rugby is helping steer young people away from drugs and crime while promoting mental wellness and teamwork.
Speaking at a sponsor event yesterday, Simpson highlighted the broader role of rugby in shaping discipline, building strong values and supporting young people to make better life choices.
He also thanked FMF for continuing its partnership with Suva Rugby, saying the support has been crucial to the union’s growth.
Simpson said just a few years ago, Suva Rugby was struggling and relied on small fundraising efforts to stay afloat, but the backing of FMF has helped transform the union.
He added that the progress seen today shows the importance of having a strong and reliable partner.
The event also marked the launch of Suva Rugby’s official website, as the union looks to modernise and better engage with its supporters and stakeholders.
