Tears filled Mrs. Ulamila Buto Vosa's eyes as she held the keys to her new home, a moment both joyful and bittersweet.
“I only wish my husband were alive to see this—the fulfillment of our shared dream,” she said, her voice heavy with emotion.
Her late husband, Adriu Vosa, had worked tirelessly for a better future, and now that dream had finally come true.
Mrs. Vosa is one of seven recipients who received homes under the Rural Housing Scheme.
Managed by the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development, the program provides safe and secure housing for families displaced from Vatukoula.
These families have since resettled in Delakado, Nabualau, and Natadradave villages in Tailevu.
For Mrs. Vosa, the new home represents more than just a roof over her head—it is a testament to her late husband's dedication and a foundation for a brighter future.
The initiative has brought hope and relief to families, offering them stability after years of uncertainty.
The Rural Housing Scheme continues to transform lives, proving that community support and resilience can build not just homes but also a stronger sense of belonging and hope for the future.
