Samoa Thrashes Fiji 4–0 in OFC U-16 Women’s Championship

Fiji’s campaign at the 2025 OFC U-16 Women’s Championship suffered a major blow after a dominant 4–0 defeat to host nation Samoa in Apia.
Samoa, playing in front of a home crowd, capitalised on their opportunities to seal a commanding victory, securing their spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. The match marked Fiji’s second group stage fixture, following their opening 4–0 win over Tahiti.
Despite coming into the match with confidence, the Junior Kulas were unable to match Samoa’s intensity and clinical finishing. The Fijian side struggled to gain momentum and found it difficult to penetrate a well-organised Samoan defence.
With this result, Samoa tops Group B while Fiji must now regroup and turn its focus to its final group match against New Caledonia, scheduled for Thursday. A win will be crucial if Fiji is to keep their hopes of progressing in the tournament alive.
The OFC U-16 Women’s Championship serves as the region’s qualifying tournament for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, adding significant stakes to each fixture.
Fiji Football Association acknowledged the tough result on social media, stating, “We regroup and shift our focus to Thursday’s match against New Caledonia. We will bounce back.”
