Saukuru Removed as Minister for Youth and Sports

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has assumed responsibility for the Youth and Sports Ministry, following the removal of Jese Saukuru from the portfolio.

The decision comes amid ongoing scrutiny and investigations linked to allegations involving the Fiji Sports Council and questions surrounding official travel connected to the ministry.

Rabuka had earlier ordered an independent investigation into claims relating to Saukuru’s 2025 trip to New Zealand, which was reportedly sponsored through a Fiji Sports Council arrangement.

The probe is also examining wider allegations concerning financial decisions and governance within the council.
