Police officers undergoing the Sergeants Qualifying Course have been reminded of the importance of integrity, accountability, and leadership in their roles.

Speaking at the opening of the course, Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu emphasized that while many officers accept promotions, some fail to uphold the responsibilities that come with their new ranks.

"This is reflected in the complaints against police and services. We need officers who are confident in their roles, unafraid to speak up, and fully aware of the authority they hold as Sergeants," ACP Driu stated.

He encouraged participants to use the training opportunity to refine their leadership skills and enhance their understanding of their duties.

"It is disappointing to see our organization being portrayed negatively, but we must acknowledge that the actions of a few have contributed to this perception. As frontline managers and supervisors, you have a crucial role in strengthening decision-making and improving service delivery," he added.

The Sergeants Qualifying Course is designed to develop leadership capabilities, enhance operational expertise, improve communication skills, and promote ethical policing, ensuring officers are well-equipped to serve their communities with professionalism and integrity.
