Seruiratu's New Party Ready for Battle
FIJI NEWS

People First has been officially registered as Fiji’s newest political party, clearing the way for the movement led by former Cabinet Minister and current leader of the opposition, Inia Seruiratu to contest future elections.
The Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa, confirmed that the party’s application, submitted on Thursday, 20 November 2025, has been approved.
Ms Mataiciwa said four objections were received in relation to the application, concerning the party’s name, symbol, and the contents of its constitution.
“After due assessment, all four objections were dismissed. However, the objectors have 14 days from today to appeal the decision to the Electoral Commission,” she said.
With the registration of People First, there are now eight registered political parties under the supervision of the Fijian Elections Office.
The registration formally positions Seruiratu’s People First Party to begin organising, campaigning, and preparing for the next general election.
