Sharp Increases in Fuel Prices Across Fiji

Sharp increases in fuel prices have seen diesel rise by as much as 75 cents per litre, with new rates coming into effect from April 1, 2026.
The latest price adjustment approved by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission shows significant increases across all major fuel types, placing further pressure on households and businesses.
Motor spirit has increased by up to 49 cents per litre, while premix has risen by up to 49 cents, depending on location.
Kerosene, which remains VAT exempt, has recorded one of the highest increases, rising by up to 72 cents per litre in some areas.
Diesel has seen the largest jump, increasing by between 74 and 75 cents per litre across the country.
The new prices vary across regions, with more remote areas such as the outer islands and Rotuma recording higher overall fuel costs due to transportation and distribution factors.
In contrast, LPG prices have remained largely stable, with only minor decreases recorded for some cylinder sizes and no change in bulk and autogas prices in most areas.
The fuel price increases are expected to have a ripple effect across the economy, likely impacting transport costs, food prices and the overall cost of living.
The FCCC reviews and sets fuel prices on a monthly basis, taking into account international fuel prices, exchange rate movements and local cost structures.
The new rates are now in effect nationwide.
