Shona Amputch, a dedicated nurse at Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital, has been selected as one of five nurses to participate in a specialist medical training program in India this January.

The program, which is being offered for free, will help Amputch gain new skills and knowledge to improve healthcare for children in Fiji.

Amputch is excited about the opportunity to learn and bring back valuable expertise to her work.

"My priority is always the children, and I want to ensure they receive the best possible care," she said.

In addition to her work at the hospital, Amputch has been actively involved in conducting echo screenings in remote islands, villages, and schools.

These screenings have been crucial in identifying health issues early, allowing children to receive the treatment they need sooner.

Sri Madhusudan Sai, the founder of the One World One Family Foundation and Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital, stressed the importance of training local healthcare professionals to provide essential services to the community.

He added that the hospital is also planning to expand its services to include heart surgery for both men and women, in addition to their ongoing work with children.

Amputch’s participation in the training program is part of a broader effort to strengthen local healthcare and ensure that quality care is available to everyone in Fiji.
