FIJI NEWS

The Government has issued a strong warning to all Government drivers following rising cases of overspeeding, reckless driving, and misuse of official vehicles.
Acting Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad says strict disciplinary action will be taken against those who break road safety rules.
This includes fines, suspension, or even termination for drivers found misusing Government vehicles.
Permanent Secretaries and transport officers have been instructed to closely monitor Government drivers.
The Ministry of Finance will also provide daily speed reports using GPS tracking to ensure compliance.
To involve the public, a toll-free complaints hotline (1526) has been set up, allowing people to report reckless driving or overspeeding by Government vehicles.
The Government expects immediate improvements in driver behavior to reduce accidents, protect public safety, and maintain the integrity of its services.
