Residents of Dreketi have made a strong case for critical infrastructure improvements during the 2025–2026 National Budget Consultation held this week.
Key submissions from the community focused on the urgent need for road upgrades, expanded electricity and water access for remote villages, improved drainage systems, and the construction of new bridges and crossings. Participants also advocated for better access to schools, installation of bus shelters, solar street lighting, and greater support for agricultural processing facilities.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad DPM, praised the high quality of the submissions, emphasizing the government’s commitment to responsible budgeting and project delivery.
“We don’t want to put things in the budget and not get them done,” Professor Prasad said. “We will carefully assess all proposed projects to ensure proper planning and execution.”
The consultation is part of the Coalition Government’s ongoing efforts to engage communities directly in shaping national priorities ahead of the upcoming budget.
