Sugar Industry Continues to Struggle, Warns Reserve Bank
FIJI NEWS

The Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) says the sugar industry continues to face difficulties, with cane and sugar output for the 2025 season now expected to be lower than earlier forecast.
Sugar is one of the few major industries which has declined in 2025.
In its latest economic update, the Bank said “ongoing challenges” in the industry have forced a downward revision of production levels for next year’s crushing season.
According to the Reserve Bank, the weaker outlook for sugar will weigh on growth in the primary sector and is one of the few areas of the economy where projections have worsened.
