Suspect Charged in Assault and Rape of Virgin Australia Crew Member

Fijian authorities have charged a man with the rape and sexual assault of a Virgin Australia crew member, following an incident on New Year's Day in Nadi.

The suspect is currently in custody and is set to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court on Monday.

The crew members have returned to Australia, with one receiving treatment for facial injuries before departure.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka, has expressed his regret over the incident and has urged tourists to be cautious, especially in nightclub areas during late hours.

The Virgin Australia crew members are staying at a local hotel as per their airline's advice to assist with the ongoing investigation.
