Suspects in the alleged killing of a family dog named Oscar are set to be produced in court today at 2 PM, Duavata News is told.

Oscar, who has now been cremated, was allegedly attacked and killed while trapped in his owner’s fence in Vatuwaqa.

According to his owner, Mr. Dakshay Kumar, the incident took place around mid-morning yesterday when Oscar became stuck in the fence and was unable to free himself.

Mr. Kumar alleges that two intoxicated men approached and brutally attacked the defenseless dog.

The suspects are alleged to have stoned and beaten Oscar to death, and Mr. Kumar says that after the incident, the men even threatened him and his other dog before being apprehended by police.

The men, according to Mr Kumar, also allegedly violently resisted arrested in front of MGM Primary school shortly after the incident.

He further alleges that during the reporting process, police suggested he withdraw his complaint, hinting that the suspects might file a counter-report against him.

Duavata News understands the investigation is ongoing in that regard.

Mr. Kumar’s is concerned that the authorities initially downplayed the severity of the incident, especially given the violence involved.
