FIJI NEWSTOP STORIESSPORTS

Suva Rugby has become the first provincial rugby union to step into the digital era with the launch of its official website, suvarugby.com, yesterday.
The platform was officially launched by Chairman Maritino Nemani, marking a new chapter for the union as it looks to modernise operations and better engage with players, supporters and stakeholders.
The launch also coincided with a major boost for the union, with FMF signing on as a sponsor for another year.
Nemani, a former Nabua rugby player and former Fiji football captain, is widely regarded as a respected and highly competent professional. He currently serves as the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations, where he has helped strengthen the Ministry’s engagement with workers, employers and the use of technology.
He has consistently championed the development of athletes in Fiji.
Speaking at the event, Nemani emphasised the role of rugby beyond the field, saying the sport continues to play a critical role in guiding young people away from drugs and crime.
He said rugby instils discipline, teamwork and values that can help shape better futures, while encouraging players to use their talents to contribute positively to the country.
Nemani also challenged players to aim higher this season, urging them to win as many trophies as possible and uphold the pride of Suva Rugby.
The new website, built by local tech company Vanguard Tech, is fully AI-integrated and designed with strong security features, bringing greater ownership and visibility to the team and its wider rugby community.
It will feature detailed player profiles, club and team information, match highlights, fixtures and results, creating a central hub that connects fans more closely to the game.
The platform positions Suva Rugby as a leader in embracing digital transformation within local sport.
