Switzerland’s women’s national football team has lost 7-1 in a training match against the Under-15 boys team of FC Luzern.

The match was held in Nottwil as part of their final preparations for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025, which begins soon and is hosted in Switzerland.

The result was not made public at first, but a player from the boys’ team posted a video online, and it quickly spread across social media.

Some key Swiss players, including their captain Lia Wälti, did not take part in the match.

One of the Swiss players, Leila Wandeler, said the result doesn’t matter and called the match a “good thing” because it helped them test their tactics before the big tournament.

Swiss media have also defended the team, saying games like this are normal in women’s football and that the physical differences between boys and women are big.

Switzerland will face Norway, Finland, and Iceland in the group stage of the Women’s Euro.
