A 26-year-old tertiary student was rescued by a joint team from the Lami Police Station and the National Fire Authority (NFA) last Saturday after she sustained a thigh injury while hiking on Mount Korobaba.

According to police, the student was hiking with three colleagues when she reportedly slipped and fell on the muddy trail, injuring her thigh and becoming unable to move.

The Police Command and Coordination Center (PCCC) received a distress call from one of the group members, prompting a swift response from both police and NFA personnel.

The rescue team located the group at the middle foot track of Mt Korobaba and safely escorted the injured student out of the trail.

She was then transported to the Lami Health Center for medical treatment and was later discharged and sent home.
