Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs Pio Tikoduadua has reiterated his stance that the 2013 Constitution is a threat to democracy, stating that it cannot remain in its current form.

Following the defeat of the Constitution Amendment Bill, Tikoduadua said the best outcome is that people are now free to exercise their own judgment on the matter. He emphasized that a Constitution should serve the people, not be a tool of entrenchment.

"The power must always remain with the people to determine their destiny," Tikoduadua said. He has backed the government's plan to take the 2013 Constitution to the Supreme Court, asserting that he will support whatever legal avenues are pursued.

While he did not anticipate Opposition MP Rinesh Sharma changing his vote on the Bill, Tikoduadua highlighted the importance of dialogue and open discussions, even if views differ.
