A nationwide TikTok ban is set to take effect today unless its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, agrees to sell the platform.

The Supreme Court upheld the ban Friday, but ByteDance insists it won’t sell, leaving the app’s future uncertain.

If enforced, the ban will block new downloads and updates and eventually render TikTok unusable.

However, President Joe Biden has indicated enforcement will fall to President- elect Donald Trump, who will be taking office on Monday.

Trump has hinted at protecting TikTok but hasn’t confirmed his plans.

National security concerns drive the ban, with lawmakers alleging TikTok could share user data Beijing- a claim ByteDance denies.

Despite interest from potential buyers like Tesla CEO Elon Musk and others, a sale appears unlikely due to regulatory hurdles.

For now, TikTok’s fate remains in limbo as millions await clarity.
