Tolu’s journey to the international stage has been nothing short of inspiring, marked by unwavering dedication and relentless hard work.

Just three weeks after competing in the Olympics, he was back in full training mode—juggling his rigorous swim schedule while representing Arizona State University, a powerhouse in NCAA Division 1 swimming in the United States.

His days start early with intense swim sessions, followed by strength training in the weight room. It’s a demanding routine that reflects his deep commitment and laser-sharp focus.

Competing at this elite level brings both challenges and rewards. With a field of world-class athletes, the competition is fierce. Still, Tolu finds joy in the moment—racing with a smile, even amidst the pressure of high-stakes events.

“It’s always very humbling to represent Fiji, as it’s my home,” Tolu shared. That deep connection to his roots fuels his motivation, driving him to train harder and perform at his best.

This meet marks his first long course competition since 2023. His primary aim? To assess his current form—and the signs are promising. “It’s great seeing massive improvements in my times compared to past competitions at this level,” he said.

The results speak for themselves: from a ranking in the 70s, Tolu has surged into the top 16—a testament to his growth and determination.

Looking ahead, he’s preparing for the upcoming Palau Mini-Games and the World Championships in Singapore. Next month, he’ll head to Australia for another key competition as part of his build-up.
