False claims circulating online about Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka have been dismissed by the Fiji Government, with officials warning that misinformation is being used to stir unnecessary public outrage.
In a statement, the government confirmed that no new vehicle has been purchased for the Prime Minister, clarifying that the current vehicle is part of an existing lease arrangement with Asco Motors and has been in service since January 24, 2025.
The government said the information being shared online is inaccurate and urged the public to verify claims before circulating them further.
The statement also highlighted concerns about the growing spread of misinformation from unverified sources, noting that such content can mislead the public and create confusion.
The clarification comes amid increasing instances of misleading information being shared online, particularly on issues likely to attract strong public reaction.
Members of the public are being encouraged to rely on credible sources and exercise caution before sharing content on social media.
