Donald Trump has done what no other U.S. president before him has managed: he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop further strikes on Iran — and Netanyahu backed down.

After a week of heavy U.S. and Israeli airstrikes that crippled parts of Iran’s military infrastructure, Trump ordered Israel to abide by the ceasefire he negotiated.

Onboard Air Force One, he called Netanyahu and gave a blunt order: “You gotta call back the planes. It’s enough.” Reports confirm that Israeli aircraft turned back and ground forces were withdrawn shortly after the call.

Speaking publicly, Trump said he respected Netanyahu for listening. The ceasefire, which many feared would break within hours, is still holding.

Trump has also repeatedly stated that he is a strong believer in peace and avoiding endless wars. “I don’t want World War III,” he recently said, insisting that America must lead by strength — but not rush into war.

No previous U.S. leader has directly told Israel to stop military action during an active conflict and seen immediate compliance. This reflects both Trump's influence and his willingness to act outside traditional diplomatic norms.

The situation remains tense, but for now, Trump's intervention has de-escalated one of the most dangerous moments in the Middle East in years.
