Seremaia Tuiteci, the President of SODELPA’s Lautoka Urban Constituency, has been officially removed from the party following his public declaration to revive the Fijian Nationalist Party ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

In a formal letter issued by SODELPA General Secretary Viliame Takayawa, Tuiteci was informed that his actions triggered an automatic expulsion under Section 15 of the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013. The law explicitly prohibits individuals from affiliating with more than one political party at a time.

“Your conduct has therefore triggered an automatic disqualification from your membership and leadership positions in the Social Democratic Liberal Party. This is not a matter of discretion or political judgment—it is a direct consequence of the law,” wrote Takayawa.

Tuiteci had written to party leadership on 9 May requesting an urgent Management Board meeting to discuss recent political developments. However, that request has now been rendered void as he is no longer considered a member of SODELPA.

SODELPA has confirmed it will notify the Registrar of Political Parties to formally update its records in line with Section 17(1) of the Act.

While acknowledging Tuiteci’s past contributions, the party wished him well in his future political aspirations—signaling a decisive end to his affiliation with SODELPA.
