Two Drowning Incidents Reported in Eastern Division

The Eastern Division witnessed two tragic drowning incidents yesterday.
In the first case, a 58-year-old man drowned while diving for freshwater mussels with his family at the Nakadi River in Baulevu. According to police, the man was reported missing after 1 p.m. A search operation led to the discovery of his body floating a few meters downstream. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was transported to the Nausori Health Centre.
In a separate incident, a three-year-old boy was found floating in Totogo Creek in Levuka in the afternoon. A 14-year-old student discovered the child’s body a few meters from his home. The young boy's body has been taken to the Levuka Hospital mortuary.
Both incidents are currently under investigation by police.
