Two men have died in separate road accidents reported early Friday morning, bringing the national road death toll to 22 so far this year.

According to the Fiji Police Force, the first fatal incident—an alleged hit-and-run—was reported at the Ba Police Station following the discovery of a man's body along Koronubu Road near Rarawai Flat shortly after 3am.

The victim, believed to be an iTaukei male in his 40s, was transported to the Ba Aspen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are working to confirm his identity and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in identifying the driver or the deceased.

Members of the public with any details are urged to contact the Western Division Command Centre on 9905 457.

In a separate incident along Lodoni Road in Korovou, a man in his 20s lost his life after the vehicle he was driving veered off the road near Nananu Village.

Initial reports indicate the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Officers from the National Fire Authority helped remove him from the wreckage and transport him to Korovou Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police investigations are ongoing in both cases.
