Two Men Charged with Murder Following Death of Elderly Robbery Victim

Two men were alleged to have caused the death of an elderly man following an aggravated robbery in Savusavu last month have now been formally charged with murder.

The suspects are accused of forcibly entering the victim’s home in Nagigi, Savusavu, where they allegedly assaulted him, resulting in serious injuries, and stole assorted items.

Initially, the pair were charged with aggravated robbery and remanded at the Labasa Correctional Facility.

However, following the victim’s passing at the end of last month, investigators pursued the case as a murder investigation.

Earlier this week, the Labasa High Court released the two men into police custody for further questioning in relation to the victim’s death.

The two men have been charged with one count of murder each and are scheduled to appear at the Labasa Magistrates Court today.
