Two More Arrested in Ongoing Yaqona Theft Investigation on Taveuni

Two more men have been arrested by the Taveuni task force as part of ongoing efforts to track down individuals involved in yaqona thefts on the island.

This brings the total number of arrests to seven, as investigations continue into the theft of the valuable crop.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (A/ACP) Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said police are still in the process of identifying the alleged groupings behind the thefts. He added that authorities are also working closely with stakeholders to trace the buyers and markets of the stolen yaqona.

Police are urging members of the public to report any relevant information by contacting Crime Stoppers on 919 or the National Command Centre on 9905 296.
