Two Separate Accidents Linked to Drunk Driving Under Investigation

Authorities are investigating two road accidents involving drivers under the influence of alcohol, which occurred yesterday in different locations in Fiji.
In the first incident, a 37-year-old man from Lautoka is in Police custody after causing an accident along Sukanaivalu Road.
The driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a 40-year-old account clerk who was standing on the roadside. The victim is currently receiving medical care at Lautoka Aspen Hospital.
In a separate accident early yesterday morning, a 37-year-old man from Kuku, Bau, Tailevu, also lost control of his vehicle while driving along Knolly Street.
The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a concrete retaining wall.
The driver, who was under the influence of alcohol, sustained injuries and was admitted to CWM Hospital.
Police have confirmed that traffic investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
This serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence, which continues to pose significant risks to road safety.
