Two men from Kulukulu are expected to appear at the Sigatoka Magistrates Court today charged with Giving False Information to a Public Servant, contrary to Section 201(a) of the Crimes Act 2009.

Police said the case stems from an incident reported on 18 July 2025, when an 18-year-old man claimed that a 26-year-old man from the same settlement had been killed by three masked assailants. He also alleged that the attackers had attempted to kill him as well.

Upon attending the scene, officers discovered that the 26-year-old, a self-employed man, was alive but had sustained visible injuries to his back and neck. He was immediately transported to hospital for medical examination.

The initial report raised suspicions, and upon further questioning, the 18-year-old reportedly admitted to fabricating the story. Police said the pair had conspired to make a false report.

The 26-year-old man was discharged from Sigatoka Hospital on Monday evening and taken into custody for questioning.

Both men have since been charged and are due to appear in court later today.
