The United Kingdom is helping the Pacific region fight cross-border crime by funding a project run by the UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) and the World Customs Organisation.

This project focuses on training customs officers to identify and handle high-risk passengers and cargo, especially to stop illegal activities like drug trafficking.

In November, officers from the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration took part in special training at Nadi Airport.

The training taught them advanced skills in spotting high-risk travelers and using intelligence to make smarter decisions at the border.

This training showed how countries in the Commonwealth, including Fiji, Australia, Canada, and the UK, can work together to tackle shared problems.

By working as a team, they aim to make Pacific borders safer and better prepared to stop crimes that affect everyone.

This effort is a big step forward in keeping communities safe and improving cooperation between nations.
