UN Experts Call for Accountability Over Israel's Gaza Actions
WORLD

UN human rights experts have called for Israel to face consequences for its actions in Gaza, accusing the country of inflicting "maximum suffering" on Palestinian civilians.
In a joint statement, 11 UN experts condemned Israel’s repeated violations of international humanitarian law, which is designed to protect civilian lives and property during armed conflict.
The experts specifically pointed to Israel’s targeting of non-combatants and civilian infrastructure, actions which they argue are in direct defiance of the Geneva Conventions and other key legal frameworks governing warfare.
The experts further criticized Israel's continued military operations in Gaza, stating that these actions have led to widespread destruction and suffering, and have disproportionately affected innocent civilians.
Despite these violations, they argued, Israel has faced little to no consequences, largely due to the protection afforded by its allies, particularly the United States.
This lack of accountability, they said, undermines the integrity of international law and exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in the region.
The statement concludes with a call for meaningful measures to ensure accountability, urging the international community to address Israel’s violations and prevent further harm to Palestinian civilians.
