Acting Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga says the Police Uniform must never be used for personal gain or in a manner that betrays the public’s trust.

He was responding to allegations linked to an incident at the Navua Police Station, which has gone viral on social media.

Mr. Lutunauga said the claims are serious and have prompted an immediate investigation.

“The Police Uniform is a symbol of hope and officers shouldn't take advantage of the power that comes with it,” he said.

Mr. Lutunauga confirmed he has directed a full investigation, adding that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken if the allegations are proven true.

The Acting Commissioner is urging members of the public to report any incidents involving police corruption or misconduct.

He reminded the public that while police officers are entrusted with certain powers, they are not above the law.
