Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations Jone Maritino Nemani says unity, compassion and faith will be key in helping Fijians navigate the difficult times ahead.

In his Easter message, Mr Nemani said the season is a time for reflection, reminding people of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the values of love, forgiveness and grace.

“As we observe the Easter season, I extend my warmest wishes to all Fijians and their families,” he said.

He said Christianity teaches people to love with humility and to put others first, values that are especially important as many families face growing challenges.

“As we look around us, we know that difficult times are coming, and many are already facing challenges. In moments like these, it is even more important that we hold on to these values, that we show kindness to one another, and that we stand together as a people.”

Mr Nemani said Easter is also a reminder that unity must be chosen, especially in a world that can feel divided.

“In a world that can often feel divided, Easter reminds us that our strength lies in our ability to care for one another, to show love, forgive, remove hate and toxicity, and to choose unity over division.”

He said the message of Easter is ultimately one of hope, even in times of hardship.

“Let this Easter be a time not only of reflection but also of renewed faith and unity, a reminder that even in hardship, there is hope."
