USP Council to Meet to Address Concerns Over HR Decisions and Processes
FIJI NEWS

The University of the South Pacific (USP) Council is meeting today and tomorrow to discuss concerns raised about the university’s human resource decisions and processes.
One of the main issues includes the initiation of an independent review.
Pro-Chancellor and Acting Chair of the Council, Emeritus Professor Pat Walsh has announced that the Council will also appoint the University Visitor during this meeting.
The Council has expressed its concern over the long vacancy in this role, which has been empty since May 2022.
The University Visitor holds an important position, serving as the final authority for resolving internal disputes within USP, as outlined in the University’s Charter and Council.
However, finding a suitable candidate for the role has been challenging.
The Council is encouraging USP’s member countries to recommend potential candidates and will also review the terms and conditions of the position to attract high-quality individuals.
In addition, the Council will review the findings of the independent review into the university's human resource processes during this meeting.
Stay tuned for updates.
