Vadra Village Women Expand Bakery with Government Backing
FIJI NEWS

Women in Vadra Village have received a major boost for their bakery business following the handover of new baking equipment funded through the Government’s Self-Help Programme.
The $19,837.95 investment is expected to increase production and improve efficiency for the women-led venture, which had previously relied on traditional baking methods.
Village headman Sefanaia Cirivakarua said the support comes at a crucial time.
“This will help ease the challenges the women face and allow them to grow their small venture,” he said.
Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka praised the initiative, describing it as a step toward sustainable rural development.
“This assistance is not just about equipment—it’s an investment in people and their potential,” said Minister Ditoka. “Empowering rural women strengthens entire communities."
