Verify CHATGPT Before You Embarrass Yourself Says Nilesh Lal.
FIJI NEWS

Dialogue Fiji CEO Nilesh Lal has weighed in after an aspiring politician, Elaine Chandra, was exposed by SODELPA General Secretary Viliame Takayawa for citing non-existent provisions of the Constitution in a public attack on Education Minister Aseri Radrodro.
“This is what happens when people use ChatGPT without verifying,” Lal said.
“ChatGPT and other such AI tools are notorious for hallucinating. Whilst they are excellent tools for assisting you to write, they do not replace the research work that you need to do.”
Lal warned other aspiring politicians and public figures to take caution from Chandra's case: that indiscriminate reliance on AI can “seriously discredit and embarrass” the user.
“You can tell AI-generated text from a mile away,” he responded to one critic, a fake Facebook account which launched vicious attacks on the Dialogue Fiji head.
“My purpose isn’t to cast aspersions on anyone… It’s just to educate people on the perils of using AI without verifying, and this is a classic case. Nothing wrong with using AI — but always verify. That is the lesson.”
Nilesh Lal is a highly respected expert in the fields of politics, constitutional law, and elections. As the leader of Dialogue Fiji, his organisation is dedicated to empowering communities and raising public awareness across Fiji on critical political and constitutional issues.
When we reached out to Chandra for an official comment yesterday, Chandra told Duavata News that she does not want to associate with us in any way and to stop contacting her.
After Duavata News ran the article yesterday, members of our faithful audience messaged the page to report that an emotional Chandra had been making social media posts and comments all night.
Chandra is a former teacher who contested the 2022 Elections as a candidate for the now-deregistered FijiFirst party, but she failed to secure enough votes to secure a seat in Parliament.
