Vunakailo Water Project Brings Relief to Lautoka Residents
FIJI NEWS

After 15 years of unreliable water access, 60 households in Viseisei Backroad, Lautoka, will soon benefit from a sustainable, pressurized water supply through the Vunakailo Water Coverage Extension Project.
Residents like Kanta Devi endured low water pressure, damaged pipelines, and high bills for undrinkable water.
The project, led by the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) and funded at $0.15 million, involves extending a DN100 main line to connect existing pipelines, ensuring reliable service for 360 residents.
WAF CEO Mr. Amit Chanan explained that the initiative addresses long-standing infrastructure issues, including damaged pipelines and land access restrictions.
Upon completion, it promises improved health, reduced reliance on water carting, and better service delivery.
This project reflects the government’s commitment to tackling infrastructure challenges and improving community livelihoods.
