FIJI NEWS

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) completed 17 rural water projects in 2018 with a budget of $1.05 million, as revealed by WAF Chief Executive Officer Dr. Amit Chanan during the tabling of the 2018/2019 Annual Report to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Natural Resources.
Dr. Chanan noted that all 65 planned projects were successfully delivered, including five minor maritime schemes in areas such as Kadavu, Moala, Lakeba, and Rotuma.
These schemes focused on chlorine dosing to ensure safe drinking water by eliminating harmful microorganisms and providing residual protection within the network.
Dr. Chanan also addressed delays in submitting WAF's annual reports, stating that the organization had initially only managed to submit its 2017 report.
However, he confirmed that WAF has now submitted reports up to the 2022 financial year and aims to fully catch up by the end of this year.
These achievements demonstrate WAF’s commitment to enhancing water accessibility and transparency in its operations.
