"We Won’t Allow Careless Use of Police Vehicles" – ACP Driu
FIJI NEWS

The Fiji Police Force has assured the public that proper investigations will be carried out following two police vehicle accidents—one in Nadi yesterday and another in Laqere this morning. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Operations, Livai Driu, said the Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough review to ensure that due process is followed.
He emphasized that police vehicle accidents affect service delivery and damage public trust, as officers are expected to obey the same laws they enforce.
ACP Driu added that alongside traffic investigations, internal inquiries will examine whether proper authorization was given for the use of the vehicles and if there was any negligence in supervision.
He stressed that reckless behavior and misuse of government resources would not be tolerated, aligning with Commissioner Tudravu’s commitment to strengthening the force.
“Police vehicles are essential for our work, and when they get damaged due to accidents, it affects how we serve the public,” ACP Driu said. He also highlighted the importance of officers following internal procedures to prevent misuse, ensuring greater accountability and efficiency in the force.
