The World Health Organization (WHO) announces an outbreak of monkey pox, now known as Mpox, in the central and east of Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has been rising and has become a major concern, causing the deaths of 450 people to date.
The transmission of this disease occurs through close contact, such as intercourse, skin-to-skin contact, or by breathing the air next to the infected.
This condition causes body lesions, fever, muscle aches, chills, exhaustion, headaches, swollen lymph nodes with four in 100 cases resulting in death.
According to a public health spokesman, people who frequently switch partners for sex, have frequent close relationships with others, or have recently visited any of the impacted African nations may be more vulnerable.
He further advised anyone experiencing symptoms to avoid close contact with others and to see their general practitioner or a sexual health center right once.
