Woman Dies in Navilawa River Drowning Incident, Husband Still Missing

A woman has died in an alleged drowning incident while the search continues for her husband who was swept away in the Navilawa River in Sabeto.

The couple were attempting to cross the river yesterday afternoon when they were caught in strong currents and swept away says the Fiji Police Force.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was later found a few metres from the point where they had attempted to cross. Her husband remains missing.

Search efforts continued today as authorities and members of the community work to locate the missing man.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the woman’s death.
