The Minister for Employment, Productivity, and Workplace Relations, Honourable Agni Deo Singh, has reminded employers to follow the law when paying workers during Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.

Minister Singh emphasized that, under Section 67 (1) of the Employment Relations Act 2007, workers must be paid their normal daily wages for public holidays.

This applies to the number of hours they would have worked if the day was not a holiday.

The reminder aims to ensure that workers receive their rightful pay and are treated fairly during the festive season.

Employers are urged to comply with these requirements to avoid penalties.

For further information, employers and employees can consult the Employment Relations Act or contact the Ministry of Employment for guidance.
